Meet our team | Mr Cross

Mr Cross | Longlands Primary School

Our staff at Longlands are a brilliant team! But do you know who we are? What makes us tick? Learn a little more about our staff and why they love Longlands so much! This time it’s the turn of Mr Cross!

“I have been teaching for 7 years now with half of that being here at Longlands and I have to say this feels like home. As well as currently teaching Year 4, I am responsible for Science, Modern Foreign Languages and I am also currently the school’s EDIB Ambassador for The Marches Academy Trust’s Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging initiative, which I am particularly passionate about. It is important for the children to be given the opportunity to make sense of the world around them and for us, as educators, to equip them with the tools to be fantastic citizens in our community and beyond. In addition to all of this, I am a keen advocate for reading and oracy and these are two of my big passions whilst teaching – reading is the bedrock of everything we do in school, but children being able to talk about their learning and communicate confidently is also equally important. Longlands is a special place made of fantastic teachers/support staff but also brilliant children that are always ready to learn with smiles on their faces. It is one big family and I think they’re right when they say once you’re in Longlands, you won’t want to leave. Outside of school I am a passionate supporter of Wolverhampton Wanderers and I’ve been going to Molineux for over 30 years (almost 30 years of hurt!! 😬); I also play football when I can to keep some semblance of fitness about me. I also enjoy spending time with my wife and step daughter at our caravan in Mid-Wales, so if you see me dashing off during the summer term at 3.30pm on a Friday, that’s where I’m heading!”
