Our Vision
At Longlands Primary School, our vision is to inspire excellence and empower every child to become a confident, knowledgeable, creative and compassionate learner, ready to thrive in a changing world.
We believe every child can achieve and every child should belong.
Our role is to give children the knowledge, skills, experiences and personal qualities they need to succeed, both at Longlands and in the next stage of their education.
We combine high expectations with high levels of support.
We build strong foundations in communication, reading, writing and mathematics while providing a broad and ambitious curriculum that develops children’s curiosity, creativity and understanding of the world.
Most importantly, we want every child to be known, valued and included.
How We Bring Our Vision to Life
STRONG FOUNDATIONS
We prioritise communication, reading, writing and mathematics alongside children’s physical, emotional and social development.
KNOWING AND REMEMBERING
Our curriculum is carefully sequenced. Important knowledge and vocabulary are revisited through retrieval and purposeful practice.
EXCELLENT TEACHING
Teachers explain and model clearly, break learning into manageable steps, check understanding and build independence.
READING AND ORACY
Reading, stories, vocabulary, listening and purposeful talk sit at the heart of learning across the curriculum.
INCLUSION AND BELONGING
We identify barriers early, adapt teaching, make reasonable adjustments and ensure pupils know that they belong.
RESPONSIVE ASSESSMENT
Assessment shows what pupils know and what they need next, enabling staff to address misconceptions and provide timely support.
