Headteacher’s Welcome

It is a real privilege to welcome you to Longlands Primary School and Nursery, a happy, ambitious and inclusive school where every child is known, valued and encouraged to achieve their very best.

I have been proud to lead Longlands since September 2025 and I am enormously ambitious for our children and our school. We want every child to feel safe, happy and that they truly belong, while receiving an excellent education that gives them the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed.

As a parent myself, I understand how important choosing the right school is. Families want to know that their child will be cared for, understood and challenged to achieve their potential. That is what we strive to provide at Longlands every day.

Longlands is especially important to me because I was once a pupil here myself. I know what it feels like to walk through these doors as a child, and that experience has given me a lasting appreciation of the importance of belonging, strong relationships and having adults who believe in you.

High expectations for every child

We have high expectations for all our pupils. Our curriculum builds strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics while developing children’s knowledge, vocabulary, curiosity and confidence across the wider curriculum.

We want children to become successful learners who know more, remember more and can apply what they have learned. Alongside academic achievement, we want them to develop the character, independence and confidence they need for the next stage of their education.

Our values of Excellence, Empathy, Creativity, Integrity and Equality are at the heart of school life and help our children understand the importance of doing their best while caring for and respecting others.

A place to belong and flourish

Longlands is proudly inclusive. We recognise that every child is unique and work closely with families to understand their individual strengths and needs. Our staff combine high expectations with the support children need to participate, learn, develop independence and experience success.

Our farm and animals, woodland and outdoor learning spaces make Longlands distinctive and provide opportunities to learn beyond the classroom. Experiences such as our much-loved L-Factor help children discover talents, develop confidence and enjoy being part of our school community.

At the heart of Longlands is a dedicated team of staff who care deeply about our children and share high expectations for what they can achieve. As part of the Marches Academy Trust, we are also part of a wider family of schools united by the belief in Achievement Through Caring.
